American Airlines Premium Economy: My Experience Flying to London

I just returned from an exhilarating trip to London, marking my first flight since 2023, when I visited Nashville. Prior to that, I hadn’t flown since 2018, when I traveled to and from Sydney. As I get older, my fear of flying has grown. I decided to try Premium Economy this time, hoping it would make the experience less daunting.

Spoiler Alert: It didn’t completely remove my fear, although it did offer a more comfortable journey.

Here’s a breakdown of my international Premium Economy flight experience with American Airlines:

Aircraft: Boeing 777-200
Seat Count: 24
Pitch: 38 inches
Width: 18.5 inches
Amenities: Wifi, seatback entertainment, power outlets

As soon as I boarded, I discovered a nice welcome pack waiting at my seat. It included a pillow, blanket, headphones, and an amenities kit featuring socks, an eye mask (which proved incredibly useful), a small dental kit, and earplugs.

I chose seat 15A and the seat was surprisingly comfortable while providing enough space and a footrest. Meal service in Premium Economy came in glass dishes with real silverware, giving a touch of elegance. My flight to London even included a delicious slice of cheesecake. Drink options included sodas, juices, beer, and wine. Entertainment is available on the seatback in front of you via a screen like a tablet which included movies, television, music and more.

The experience was absolutely amazing. Next time, I hope to upgrade to Business Class for an even more luxurious journey. To ease my fears of flying of course.
